ABRAHAM J. STIMMEL
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
As Executive Director, Avi Stimmel leads the association in a shared effort to increase access to affordable housing. Avi is experienced in industrial and multi-family real estate acquisitions with a background in leadership, sourcing and identifying potential acquisitions and development opportunities, while negotiating and bringing deals through the acquisitions process. Prior to his work in real estate Avi pursued educational goals spending over 15 years between post-graduate studies and serving as an educator and administrator. Combining his love for education and philanthropy, Avi, currently serves as director of operations for a therapy agency dedicated to promoting solutions, across the spectrum and throughout the life span, for the needs of individuals with autism and their families. With Chestnut Affordable Housing, Avi blends his real estate background with his philanthropic minded goals.
CAROLYN ALLEN DIRECTOR
Carolyn Allen is the founder and owner of 'Allen's Innovative Management Company', located in Sumter, SC. Carolyn's major experience and passion is in the area of Affordable Housing; Section 8 and LIHTC. Prior to joining Chestnut Affordable Housing, Carolyn has had extensive experience in both affordable housing and philanthropy. Carolyn has worked in various roles related to affordable housing for over 25 years, starting her career as property manager for companies like Volunteers of America of the Carolinas, HQ in Columbia SC and Jessco Home Builders in Ladson SC, among others and has a proven record as a property manager and a compliance manager. Carolyn has held several designations in the Affordable Industry, such as COS, CPO, AHM, PM and PMIC. In 2009, Carolyn started her first philanthropic effort, establishing a successful HIV and Substance Abuse Agency in Fayetteville NC called 'Trust the Process'. Carolyn graduated from Fayetteville State University, in 1982, with a BA Degree with Honors in Political Science with a concentration in Public Administration. She also attended Bowling Green State University, where she worked on her Masters.
JEREMY KIRSCHNER
DIRECTOR
Jeremy Kirschner is a certified public accountant and partner at the accounting firm S. Adelsberg & Co. Jeremy’s client expertise includes real estate funds, family businesses with over 10,000 units, national real estate portfolios, syndicated industrial and commercial portfolios, multinational manufacturing and distribution companies with an excess of $1 billion in annual revenue, and not-for-profit clients. Prior to working at S. Adelsberg, Jeremy worked as a Senior Auditor in the real estate group at Ernst & Young LLP. Jeremy has extensive experience advising real estate clients, including in the area of affordable housing, and has invested in various real estate projects for over 20 years. Jeremy graduated from Yeshiva University, Sy Syms School of Business University, in 2000, with a BS Degree in Accounting.
ARIEL KOTLER
DIRECTOR
Ariel Kotler is a principal of Tyrell IG, LLC, an owner and operator of 15 nursing homes across Kansas, Iowa and Missouri. Ariel has also built over 20 single and multi-family homes in the East Coast, is developing a multi-family dwelling in Colorado, and has over 20 years of experience in real estate and affordable housing. Ariel also has vast international real estate experience, owning and developing properties in Asia and looks to bring a unique multi-national perspective to finding affordable housing solutions.
